Poor start costs Douglas

Ellesmere Port take Plate

Douglas lost 38-19 away at Manchester in North One West on Easter Saturday but showed some grit in the second period.

They had trailed 24-0 at half-time in the rearranged game.

Second half tries from Aidan O'Shea, Owen Carvin and Harry Hewson, plus two Bryn Snellgrove conversions, saw them outscore their hosts after the break but by then the damage had been done.

Favorites Ellesmere Port beat Southern Nomads 43-0 in the Cheshire Plate, despite some dogged resistance from the Manx side.

With 10 minutes to play, Nomads trailed by a respectable 29-0 before a late flurry put some gloss on the scoreboard for the Merseysiders.
