Manx cyclist honoured with landmark in Glen Vine
A post box in the home town of Manx cyclist, Matthew Bostock has been turned gold in recognition of his sporting achievements.
The box, located on the junction of Ballagarey Road and Greeba Avenue in Glen Vine, has been decked out in the new colours following a stellar season so far for the Island rider.
Among his standout accolades in 2026, he was crowned a world champion after victory in the Men's Scratch Race at the UCI Track World Championships in Shanghai, China last month.
Prior to that and along with multiple British track titles this campaign, he won gold for the Isle of Man in the Men's 40km Points Race at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in August.
Chair of Marown Parish Commissioners, Alison Lynch, says it feels good to have a landmark in the area to celebrate the man himself as well as his family and the wider parish community:
The tribute closely mirrors a tribute to fellow Isle of Man cyclist, Peter Kennaugh who, in recognition of winning gold in the Men's Team Pursuit at the 2012 Olympics, had a post box painted gold in his home village of Onchan.
Separately, Bostock is one of six competitors who've been nominated for the British Cycling National Champion of the Year award for 2026 with people able to vote for who they think should win until the deadline on Saturday, 14 November.
