Ramsey relegation confirmed

Ramsey’s time in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two has come to an end.

A gutsy first half performance wasn’t enough to save them from relegation as they went down 47-5 at home to promotion contenders Bowdon.

Ben Sutherland’s 10th minute try, converted by Mike Swetman, gave Bowdon an early lead.

Matty Clague struck back for Ramsey before Phil Gare ran in Bowdon’s second to give them a 12-5 half-time lead.

Bowdon then cut loose in the opening part of the second half.

Two quick tries from number eight Luke Brown pushed them clear and, with the try bonus point secured, they really opened up.

Full back Gare added three tries for an impressive personal haul and the unerring boot of Swetman converted all five.

Vagabonds ended their campaign in the division with a 32-15 home defeat of Port Sunlight.

Ross Pulman was the star for Vagas with a hat-trick of tries and there were extra tries from Aiden O’Shea, Tom Gascoyne and Ryan Pope, with O’Shea adding a conversion.

In Division One, Douglas’ poor end of season form continued with a 24-5 defeat away at Ruskin Park, with Bryn Snellgrove’s try the only high point for them.

Douglas now face an away trip to Wigan for their final game next Saturday.
