Relegated sides to the fore

Ayre United underlined their intent to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

They began life back in JCK Division Two with a 4-2 home win over Douglas Royal.

Jason Craine (two), Chris Duggan and Phil Quayle found the net for the Tangerines with Paul Whitley scoring both for Royal, who are also tipped to challenge for promotion.

The other relegated side, Ramsey Youth Centre, also hit four with a 4-1 home success over Braddan.

A first half rout sealed the points through a Jamie Brew hat-trick and Robert Morton before Braddan notched a second half consolation.

Michael showed just why they could be in the promotion mix by thrashing Foxdale 11-3 in the western derby.

The other scorers were Peter Fisher, Matthew Brand (two) and James Ford.

Stuart Morrison and Gavin McLaughlin were among the Foxdale goals.

Down south, Colby were 3-1 winners over Pulrose, for whom Ben Cowin was on target.

Jim Collett, Ollie Swales and Steve Kelly found the net for the home side.

A last minute penalty rescued a point for Douglas Athletic at Ronaldsway in a 3-3 draw.

Dave Kelly, Jamie Heaney and Luke Collister were the Rockets’ scorers.

Douglas and District started the season with a 3-1 win at Malew, thanks to goals from Warren Wilson, Jamie Spicer and John Conroy.

Daniel Thurwell netted for the home side in the first half.
