The man who partnered Mark Cavendish to his first ever World title in 2005 is to retire.
Rob Hayles and Cav took the Indoor Track Madison crown in Los Angeles.
Hayles was very much a mentor to the 'Manx Missile' in his early career with Great Britain before he turned professional in 2007.
He also played a role in Cavendish winning gold in the Scratch Race at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Despite riding for England and being a lap down, he made a nuisance of himself in the closing stages to upset the Australian challenge. He ended up being disqualified.
