Representatives from the three Manx Rugby clubs competing in the South Lancashire and Chesire League met last night to consider their response to the possibility of English Rugby Football Union funding for travel being drastically reduced.
The RFU officially informed Vagabonds, Douglas and Ramsey it was looking to cut monies at a meeting at the National Sports Centre last Friday.
Tim Glover reports:-
The RFU offered two proposals - just one team from the Isle of Man fully funded, or all three clubs remaining in competition....but with money only available for opposition teams to travel over to the island.
Both were rejected at last Friday's get-together at the N.S.C. with the RFU being told either would be disastrous for the sport on the island
Manx Radio understands last night's gathering was very calm and considered - and the start of work to put together a case on behalf of the three clubs involved and Manx Rugby in general.
