Island competitor had been due to be part of athletics squad
Isle of Man athlete, Sarah Astin has withdrawn from the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Announcing the news on social media, Astin says the decision comes after she picked up an injury at the Seville Marathon in February 'which I haven't managed to shake.'
The Manx competitor made her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham in 2022, where she took part in the Women's 5,000m final.
Whilst 'gutted' she won't be able to take part in this year's event, Astin adds there's been a 'silver lining' of being able to spend more time with family and friends 'which has been very good for the head.'
Separately, Astin current holds the Manx women's athletics records on the track in the 3,000m; 5,000m and 10,000m disciplines.
As a result of Astin's withdrawal, there will now be four competitors representing the Isle of Man in athletics at this summer's games - Regan Corrin, Jack Kinrade, Ollie Lockley and David Mullarkey.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August.
