Shooting: Rand holds own in shoot off

The sixth and final round of the Tower Insurance DTL league was held at Meary Veg Santon with seventeen competitors taking part in dry but breezy conditions.

The leader after the first round was Mark Riley with a near perfect straight only having one second barrel, in second place on 72 was Brian Faragher who also had a straight but three second barrels, in equal third place on 69 were John Moore and Mike Parr on 69.

After the second round Orry Watterson finished in third place in C class on 108 with Will Rand taking second place on 116 but winning C class with 118 points was Rob Marshall .This meant a shoot off was required to find the overall C class winner between Rob Marshall and Will Rand which Will won scoring 66 points to Robs 64.

In B Class, Rob Corlett was third on 135 with Stan Cross one ahead in second place on 136 but taking the class win with 137 was junior Joe Faragher. The overall winner of B class was also Joe Faragher with Stan Cross second and Rob Corlett third.

In A class Mike Parr was third on 136 with John Moore taking second place on 139 but piping him by one point was Alan Wade on 140.

In the afternoon, the last round of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT league was held with 8 competitors taking part in dry but windy conditions.

The leader after the fist round was Alan Wade with 24 points with Phil Ward in second place on 21 followed by Marc Riley in third place on 20. After the second round Phil Ward finished in third place on 40 with Marc Riley taking second place on 42 but piping him by one with 43 points was Alan Wade.

Results

1st A Wade 24,19=43, 2nd M Riley 20,22=42, 3rd P Ward 21,19=40.

In the overall league Alan Wade was the winner with 2 penalty points with Marc Riley second on 4 and Stan Skinner third on 5.

The sixth and final round of the Manx Petroleum's Olympic Skeet was also held and the leader after the first round was Stan Cross on 19 with George Davies in second place on 17 followed by Jeff Corkill in third place on 16.

After the second round Jeff Corkill finished in third place on 33 with Stan Cross taking second place on 37 put just piping him by one point was James Bradley on 38 ,James had a 23 in his second round.

1st J Bradley 15,23=38, 2nd S Cross 19,18=37, 3rd J Corkill 16,17=33.

In the overall league Stan Cross was the winner with 1 penalty point with junior Ted Davis in second place on 20 and Giulio Fabrizio was third on 28.

This week is the final round of the Colin Bowen Memorial English skeet league.
