Snooker: Hill sits at top of table

SPORT: Four IOM championship winners to go head-to-head in week 3 #sport #news #iom #ManxRadio

The second week of Castle Cabs Premier League Snooker action took place on Saturday, 27 February.

Peter Kirkham made up for his opening round defeat to John Kennish the previous week by sealing a 4-2 victory over Peter Crellin. From leading 2-1, Crellin missed numerous chances in frames four and five to at least take a draw. Kirkham made the highest break of the match with a 31 in the last frame. Frame scores, (Kirkham first), 50-24, 22-67, 24-60, 69-53, 65-55 and 61-20.

The second match was a rematch of the Champion of Champions group final in December, where Paul Smith caused an upset knocking out five times island champion Darryl Hill. Hill made up for that defeat with an emphatic victory, producing the league's first 6-0 scoreline with breaks of 41, 42 and a 54 clearance along the way. Frame scores 55-26, 58-4, 64-31, 87-17, 58-12 and 50-5.

Now that all the players have played at least one match, it's Hill who sits at the top of the table on 3 points and a +6 frame difference, whilst John Kennish and Tom Miller remain in the top 4 following their 4-2 wins last week on 3 points and +2. Peter Kirkham, the only player to have played two matches so far, makes up the fourth place also on 3 points but on 0 frame difference.

The full table can be viewed on the IoMBSA website, iom2011.leaguerepublic.com.

Week 3 will take place after the latest lockdown and will feature four players to have won the Island championship: Tom Miller v Darryl Hill and John Kennish v Sean Corkish.

All matches will be held at The Cue Zone IOM and streamed live on the IOMBSA Facebook page.
