Snooker: Lineup for Grand Prix event confirmed

New competition to start this weekend (6 Feb)

The new IoMBSA Grand Prix snooker event, sponsored by Castle Cabs commences on Sunday. 6 February at The Cue Zone IoM.

The eight players competing were selected from the ranking list, with their best three scores from the four events played used.

The confirmed line-up, (seedings in brackets) and schedule is:

Best of 9 Quarter Finals:

Sunday  6th - 2pm                  Darryl Hill (1) v Marek Kenny (8)

Monday 7th - 7pm           Calum Gardner (4) v Peter Crellin (5)

Tuesday  8th - 7pm           Jamie Wilson (3) v Peter Kirkham (6)

Thursday 10th - 7pm            Tom Miller (2) v Chris Dagnall (7)

Best of 9 Semi Finals:

Saturday 12th - 1pm - Hill/Kenny v Gardner/Crellin

Saturday 12th - 7pm - Wilson/Kirkham v Miller/Dagnall

The Final, best of 15 over two sessions:

Sunday 13th - 1pm & 7pm

The ever improving Marek Kenny faces the stiffest task in the quarters against multiple island champion Hill, but if he’s able to show some of his league form he is capable of nicking a frame or two. A case can be made for all of the other players to progress to the semis in what should be one of the most exciting new events we've had and there is potential for an upset or two. The clash of the pool players, Gardner and Crellin should go deep and Wilson is more than capable of running island finalist Kirkham close. Ex island champion Miller will be favourite to overcome Dagnall, but anyone that can take the 2015 world champion ‘Ball-run’ Stuart Bingham to the black on the Star table that will be used throughout this event should not be discounted lightly!

All matches will be live streamed on the association Facebook page.
