Island competitor also takes three gold medals at Masters National Championships

Isle of Man swimmer, Sophie Casson has broken World and European records during the 2025 Swim England Masters National Championships.

The Peel Swimming Club member - who was representing Carnforth at Ponds Forge in Sheffield from 24-26 October - claimed three gold medals across three categories in the women's 40-44 age group.

During the first session of day two at the meeting (25 October), Casson claimed her first win of the championships in the women's 200m freestyle in two minutes, 5.36 seconds to set a new European masters record for that distance in the female 40-44 age bracket.

Things then got even better in the second session on the same day as her winning time of four minutes, 18.86 seconds in the women's 400m freestyle saw her break the female 40-44 world masters record for that event.

During the afternoon on the third and final day (26 October), Casson signed off her campaign in style with a new European masters record of eight minutes, 54.79 seconds on her way to gold in the Women's 40-44 age group 800m freestyle.

On social media, Isle of Man Swimming is congratulating Casson, describing it as a 'phenomenal weekend' for the athlete.
