Ten year-old Ana reaches last eight

The quarter-final line-up is now known for the Appleby Island Ladies Golf Championship.

That's after some thrilling matchplay at Douglas.

The story of the night came as 10-year-old Ana Dawson defeated last year's beaten finalist Joy Morris of Ramsey.

Heather McKenna beat Port St Mary team-mate Anne Gelling at the 19th and Shirley Glover edged out Joy Phelan.

Elsewhere, defending champion Emma Harris defeated Mair Gardner six and five, a scoreline repeated by Jane Gaines against Anne Gundry.

Christina Skelly was a seven and six winner against Jackie Clague and there were four and three victories for Cath Preston and Jasmine Heginbotham against Sue Kinrade and Gaynor Lees respectively.

The line-up for the quarter-finals this evening (Thursday) is Emma Harris v Heather McKenna; Jane Gaines v Shirley Glover; Ana Dawson v Cath Preston and Jasmine Heginbotham v Christina Skelly.

Those matches tee off at ten minute intervals from 5pm.
