Tennis: Pat Sharp wins International Lifetime Achievement Award

Local tennis legend beats thousands across the UK in LTA Ceremony

Pat Sharp's legendary status in the Isle of Man tennis scene has been taken one step further.

She's beaten more than 2000 others across the UK to be chosen as the Lifetime Achievement Award winner in the 2021 LTA Tennis Awards.

Recently, Pat also won the North Region category for the accolade.

The award celebrates her huge contribution to the local tennis community, which started back in 1962 when her and her husband Bryan moved to the Island built the club up from a single piece of untamed land to what it is today.

Pat gave this message after winning the award:

"I want to say a very big THANK YOU to everyone who has placed a Congratulations message on face book or sent e-mails and texts.

Many of you are tennis friends from the past but also lots are Albany members or members of other clubs.

It is lovely to hear from you and I appreciate your interest.

I think of this award is one to be shared by all Island tennis players and hope it will help to boost Manx tennis and encourage more to play or offer admin support to their clubs.

My very sincere thanks

Pat"
