Defeats for Braddan and Royal
Castletown stayed top in JCK Division Two on Saturday – without even playing.
That’s because Braddan lost for the first time this season and Douglas Royal went down in a nine goal thriller.
Second placed Royal had the chance to go top but were seen off 5-4 at Onchan.
A Rob Byrne double, goals from Joe and Mark Rees, and an own goal, sealed a memorable win to earn Onchan an outside chance of a promotion challenge.
Royal replied through James Halliday, Craig Dolman, Andrew Lancaster and Paul Whitley but dropped what could be costly points.
Ramsey Youth Centre inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on Braddan with a 2-0 success.
Anthony Bale and Dylan Parrish were the marksmen.
Bottom club Malew secured their first point of the season but were left frustrated.
That’s as Kevin Doyle netted a late equaliser for Douglas and District in a 1-1 draw at Clagh Vane.
Malew, who took a 43rd minute lead through Michael Wheeler, had come within moments of victory after their keeper also saved a Daniel Clague-Stewart penalty early in the second half.
Marown edged out Gymns in an exciting contest at Tromode.
After a goalless first half, the Crosby men emerged 3-2 winners with goals from Joey Rothwell, Niall Quayle and a 76th minute winning penalty from substitute Kevin Druggan.
