Move follows Wednesday evening incident
Changes to red flag procedures at the TT have been announced by Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson.
The decision follows an incident during last night's practice session, when rider Steve Mercer was badly injured after being involved in a collision with a course car at Ballacrye.
From now on, a red flag instruction will apply to the entire course, irrespective of where that incident has occurred.
Mr Thompson says there will be no movement on the course by any competitor until the incident has been cleared, regardless of how long that incident may take to clear.
The riders will only be permitted to move in the direction of the course, under the control of Travelling Marshals at the front and rear.
Riders will no longer be allowed to go in the opposite direction.
