Vagabonds win at Port-e-Chee

Vagas move second in Manx Trophy

Vagabonds pulled off the result of the day when they beat Douglas South 22-17 at Port-e-Chee.

Vagas led 22-0 at one stage and Douglas gradually clawed their way back to claim a losing bonus point but ran out of time for anything else.

Second row Nathan Gibson went in for two Vagas tries, Dylan Chambers got one and Cam Findlay kicked a penalty and two conversions as Vagas moved into second place in the standings.
 
Douglas North remain top of the Manx Trophy standings when they beat Southern Nomads 19-7 in a tight game at the Field of Dreams.

Harrison Kirk, Bryn Snellgrove and Simon Hoddinott all went in for Douglas tries with Luke Hyland converting a “meatloaf” (two out of three ain’t bad).

Ben Fry scored Nomads’ only try with Mark Young adding the extras.
 
Emerging Nomads and Vagabonds Hornets both kept their unbeaten runs in the Manx Bowl and set up a firecracker of a game for next Friday when the two meet at Ballafletcher.

Nomads led Western Vikings 21-19 at half time and closed out a 31-19 win.

Mike Pardoe, Dale Williams, Percy Hampton, Callum Smith and Orry Watterson all picked up tries for Nomads with Smith converting three.

Jack Goodwin, Chris Beaumont and Paul Wheeldon all scored for Vikings with Ryan Burke “meatloafing” the conversions.
 
At a windy Ballafletcher, Vagabonds Hornets beat Castletown 41-22.

Tries from Tom Rowley (2), Johnny Beckley and Steve Gawne, plus two Beckley conversions saw Vagas leading 24-7 at half time.

Kunal Patel snatched one back to keep Town in touch and Jim Emmett converted.

Patel and Emmett then crossed the whitewash for Town early in the second half and reduced the lead to 24-17, but tries from Josh Perry and Ekong Bell pushed Vagas clear.

Gawne then ran in his second before Emmett went over at the death to snatch a try bonus point for Town.
