Late Lunch listen again - Secret Gardens

It was a real treat for us today, as we took our 'Live from the Allotment' show on the road!

Tanya from Lovely Greens joined us in a blooming beautiful Secret location in Port Erin, one which is part of the upcoming Secret Gardens and Hidden Treasures event happening over Tynwald Weekend. Owners John and Mavis greeted us warmly (with tea and homemade cake, which immediately won points from Beth..), showed us around their fabulous space and gardener John had wonderful conversations with Ower Tanya about all things Lovely and Green.

We were also joined by Pamela Crowe, who had invited us to Port Erin in the first place as she is the driving force behind the Secret Gardens event this year. She told us about some of the other gardens that are part of the tour, all of which (including this one) you can see for yourself in person; you just need to buy a brochure in advance for £5, which has all the information about the gardens themselves and secures you entry. Monies from the sales of the brochure go the Rushen Heritage Trust which is in the process of creating a Heritage Centre (which Pam also told us all about)

There will also be an antiques, collectables and plant sale at St Catherine’s Church Hall on Church Road over that weekend.

Brochures are available in: Castletown - The Italian Kitchen; Ramsey - Sarah's Flowers; Peel - Elaine's Flowers; Douglas - The Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal; Port St Mary - Calvert Newsagents; and Port Erin - Bridge Bookshop, the Commissioners office on Bridson Street, and Port Erin Pets.

Tanya also told us all about her recent blogs and adventures at the Allotment - including the pitfalls of poisoned compost, which she explained for us brilliantly in the post show Potcast which you can find here - and she alluded to some VERY EXCITING NEWS involving a BBC Television Programme that paid a visit to the Laxey Allotment recently... she couldn't tell us any more, but listen to the show and we'll reveal what we can, when we can!

If you missed any part of today's programme you can listen again at this link for the next 7 days.
