Oxfam has conducted some research showing that almost 3/4 of Brits will buy one or more new item of clothing specifically for the Christmas party season, splashing out an average of £106... the spend equates to about £3.5 BILLION on new clothes for Christmas, with eight million items that will only be worn ONCE. The charity wants people to think about the implications for buying disposable – or ‘fast’ - fashion that is worn once at Christmas and then thrown away – whether that means wearing an item again or giving it away..Christy DeHaven and Sarah Hendy spoke with fashion activist and former Clothes Show presenter,Caryn Franklin MBE, to find out what little bits we can do to help turn the textile tide.
