Farmers 'need to come together and find a solution' over withdrawal of veterinary services
A Manx farmer says the sector 'needs to come together and find a solution' following the announcement that Milan Vets will no longer carry out farm veterinary services. The practice says it will no longer be able to treat livestock from the end of the month, citing a long-term decline in the number of farm clients.Milan Vets is owned by Independent Vetcare Limited, a large veterinary group that operates many practices across the British Isles, and it's been suggested that the decision to withdraw these services has been made off-Island.In this edition of Newscast with Lewis Foster, Manx Radio Countryside presenter Kirree Kermode - from Orrisdale Farm in Ballasalla - says it's a worrying time for the sector.

Agenda 10.11.25 - Questions and Whistleblowing
Agenda 10.11.25Is government’s whistle blowing policy fit for purpose? Well a new Tynwald Committee has been set up to answer that very question? Should concerned government employees be able to take their concerns directly to an MHK or is this best left to HR experts to handle? Also, there were several questions raised in October Tynwald about young people not in work or education, is government flip flopping on apprenticeship support, are reservoir repairs over the top and concerns in the south over changes in the rating system. Agenda blowing the whistle on the big political stories of the day ........ or was that just the kettle boiling?

PERSPECTIVE:
-
Perspective 16.11.25 - is Tynwald trying to have its cake and eat it on its minimum wage decision?
In October Tynwald members agreed to a slightly watered down proposal to tie the minimum wage to the living wage. This led to the Local Economy Forum holding a lively meeting which, while highly critical of government and Tynwald’s decision, suggested a change to tax allowances and credits which would see the lowest paid taking home slightly more money and government and the private sector sharing the burden. Lawrie Hooper spoke against the Tynwald compromise and Chris Robertshaw led the private sector charge against. They talk to Perspective. A lively exchange to whet your appetite for Sunday dinner with a surprising outcome for pudding.
