Evan Darroch's Guild performance featured on Sundown

“The Bare Necessities of Life” - Evan's qualifying performance for the Sheffield Plate in the 2016 Manx Music Festival. He was the winner of the class JS2 boys solo for years 5 and 6. His accompanist was Frank Woolley. His performance was featured in the local music section of Judith Ley's Sundown in May 2016


 

Mr Eliminator and the Deadly Vipers

Here is a cracking archive session recorded at Manx Radio back in 2013. Three great surf tracks from a fine Isle of Man Band featuring Dolyn Clucas-Morris, Glen Watterson and Steve Henthorn recorded and produced by Marc Tyley.

Nigel Walton

Sundown Session featuring Isle of Man-born singer Nigel Walton, who joined Judith Ley to discuss his new album 'Day and Night' in February 2016.

Hamish Faragher in session January 2016

Hamish Faragher returns to Manx Radio to record an exclusive session for the Sunday Soundtrack, a new show hosted by Christy DeHaven. Hamish first recorded here as part of the Young Singer Songwriter of the Year competition in 2014.

A Song For Peace by The Buchan School

Thank you to Sue Mills – Head of Music at The Buchan School – for a recording of the Buchan schoolchildren singing A Song for Peace by Teresa Jennings which was recorded  on  21st of September 2015 -  World Peace Day. The Buchan is the first Island school to take port in the One Day One Choir choral initiative, launched last year,  which uses the harmonious and inclusive power of singing together to promote peace and unity on World Peace Day each year.

‘7 Kingdoms’

A special concert live from the summit of Snaefell as part of the celebrations to mark 120 years of the Mountain Railway featuring a specially commissioned 40-minute chamber ensemble work by composer Tim Price.

Simon Lynch and Kristene Sutcliffe

Simon Lynch and Kristene Sutcliffe accompanied by Claire Creer recorded this session for Sundown on the 21st of June 2015 ahead of the opening of the show: I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change

Tony Knowles and Dick Best

This session was recorded for the Sundown Sessions in January 2015. Tragically Tony died in April and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and musicians everywhere. We would like to offer sincere condolences from all of us at Manx Radio.

Alanna Cowley and Llinos Ellis

Alanna and Llinos joined Judith Ley on Sunday the 11th of April. Alanna is on vocals and Llinos is playing piano. They regularly perform as a duo and Alanna is also the voice on our Manx Gaelic, Manx Radio sung jingles.

Elizabeth Shooter

Elizabeth was one our youngest guests on the Sundown Sessions and she appeared with Judith on Sunday the 5th of April 2015.

Michelle Jamieson

Michelle has been appearing on stage in the Isle of Man for as long as she can remember and is still only seventeen. We recorded this session with Michelle in March 2015

Katherine Crowe

In this session, Katherine talks to Ashlea Tracey and plays some of her best loved songs. This was recorded in February 2012. Tragically Katherine died in May 2014.

Saroja Lily Ratnavel

Having landed the leading role of Maria in West Side Story, we were delighted to record Saroja Lily for the Sundown Sessions in February 2015.

Simon Lynch

Simon came in to record this session a few weeks before starring in West Side Story as Tony.

Georgia appeared on the Sundown Sessions in January 2015

Emily Coates

Emily joined us for the very first of our Sundown Sessions in November 2014. These are broadcast each Sunday night on Sundown with Judith Ley.

Debbie appeared on Sundown with Judith Ley in December 2014

Marlene Hendy and Dilys Sowrey

Marlene and Dilys are a very popular duo who have performed all over the Island and appeared on Sundown in December 2014

Dandi Dancox

Dandi was one of our younger singers to join Judith Ley for a Sundown Session. A very bright young star indeed who went on to take a major role in the 2015 Manx Operatic Society's production of West Side Story.
