Snapshots of life in Jurby in 1945 including 'It’s Better to be Born Lucky than Rich’, the story of the miraculous escape from a burning Sunderland flying boat which had crash-landed just moments before it blew up. As told by crew member F/Lt. ‘George’ Washington almost 40 years later. Almost every window on the airfield was smashed and most hangars had huge holes in them. Roofs were blown off houses and the stained glass East window of camouflaged Jurby Church was blown in.
