£1 sells for £24,000
An extremely rare Manx bank note has been sold for £24,000 at auction in London today.
The £1 was the first ever to be issued in November 1882, with serial number one, and is believed to be the only surviving note in existence.
It features a picture of the Tower of Refuge in Douglas harbour.
It had been expected to fetch between £10,000 and £15,000.
