Pectoral sandpiper snapped for the first time at northern reserve
A new bird species has been added to the list of visitors to the Point of Ayre National Reserve.
Manx BirdLife says there was excitement among birdwatchers this week when a pectoral sandpiper was spotted.
Its the first time it's been seen at the northern site, taking the total number of bird species recorded there up to 202.
Pectoral sandpipers are a long-distance migratory bird that can be seen visiting the British Isles from America.
Manx Birdlife says it's worth keeping an eye out for it if you're visiting the Point of Ayre this weekend.
