Second-place finish at Brass Bad Contest
The Manx Youth Band has secured a second-place finish at the Fleetwood Brass Band Contest.
The young musicians attended the event on 26 April, at Marine Hall, alongside sister-band Manx Concert Brass.
They competed in the fourth section, under the direction of Ian Clague, delivering a rendition of Andrea Price’s I, Daedalus.
Thirty-five bands from regions in Scotland, Yorkshire, the Midlands and the North West competed.
Band chairman Stephen Maddocks said: "This weekend has been a fantastic experience for all involved but to see the Manx Youth Band perform at that level and come away with second place is truly special.
"They represented the Island with pride and showed just how much talent and commitment there is among our young musicians."
The trip to the festival, which returned this year after a 13-year hiatus, was supported by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and the Isle of Man Arts Council.
