The chairman of a local airline has described 2010 as 'one of those years you would choose to forget'.
Noel Hayes from Manx2.com was speaking after income at Isle of Man Airport was badly affected by a fall of 14 per cent in passenger numbers in December and a drop of five per cent over the year.
Extreme weather and the volcanic ash cloud are being blamed for the disappointing figures, but Mr Hayes believes some of the problems at Ronaldsway were self-inflicted.
He is also warning the same thing could happen again unless there is investment for the future:
New child employment rules come into force
Tourist tax would be 'wrong move at the wrong time', says Douglas hotelier
Diesel price increases 'could put some taxi drivers out of business'
Interim census 'important for business as well as government'
