Tynwald approved them in December 2025
New child employment rules have come into force on the Isle of Man.
They were approved by Tynwald in December last year.
The previous rules on the Island were described by many, including the Chamber of Commerce, as 'overly restrictive'.
Now, children over 13 may work up to two hours a week on weekday evenings during term time and up to four hours on Fridays.
This goes up to seven hours a day on weekends and during school holidays, although no child can work before 7am and can't exceed 28 hours a week.
They must also be given a 15 minute break after two continuous hours of work or a 30 minute one after four.
It's a criminal offence for employers, parents or carers to breach the regulations.
