A net growth rate of 4.7 per cent for the Isle of Man's economy during the financial year 2008-2009 put it at the forefront of nations across Europe.
Minister for Economic Development Allan Bell calls it 'a very pleasant piece of news', during what has been a turbulent twelve months.
The figure is included in the Manx Treasury's 2008-2009 National Income Report, and Mr Bell believes there is a simple reason for the Island's success:
Tourist tax would be 'wrong move at the wrong time', says Douglas hotelier
Diesel price increases 'could put some taxi drivers out of business'
Interim census 'important for business as well as government'
Fuel retailer urges motorists to avoid refilling diesel until tomorrow
