Applications open for Covid winter support

Eligible businesses invited to apply for gov't scheme

Applications have opened for government's Covid-19 Winter Disruption Scheme.

It aims to support the Island’s catering, hospitality, leisure, tourism and travel, retail and lifestyle sectors, impacted by ongoing measures.

The scheme provides financial assistance in the form of a grant to businesses and self-employed persons who've seen a fall in turnover over a three month period since September 2021, compared to the same period in 2019 or 2020.

It's hoped the grants will keep eligible businesses trading throughout the winter months, from now until the end of March.

Businesses operating out of commercial premises can claim a grant equivalent to the value of up to four times their rates, while those without commercial premises can claim a single grant payment of up to £4,000.

To access financial support through this Scheme, applicants will have to prove they've suffered a downturn in turnover during a certain period of time.

The extent of this downturn, government says, can be adjusted to take into account inflation and potential increased staff costs during that time.

Applications close on Friday, 15 April 2022.
