Aspiring astronauts bound for space school

ManSat scholars lift off next month

Satellite firm ManSat is sending another intrepid group of students Stateside, to spend a fortnight in the company of NASA.

Three sixth form students are jetting off to the United Space School in Houston, Texas, after winning the firm's annual scholarship.

Rose ten Donkelaar from Ramsey Grammar School, Laurence Couch from Castle Rushen and Julius Herzig from King William's College are set to leave next month.

They'll meet students from 21 different nations to learn all about the cosmos, hone their engineering skills and plan a virtual mission to Mars.

Since 2000, ManSat has awarded 30 Manx youngsters the coveted scholarship.
