The Bank of Ireland, including its Manx subsidiary based in Christian Road in Douglas, has entered the Credit Institutions Eligible Liabilities Guarantee Scheme.
The Irish scheme means the bank will be able to use the Irish government’s guarantee scheme to raise capital.
It means the Bank of Ireland will be able to guarantee all deposits and any new debt securities less than five years in length.
In a statement, the Bank of Ireland said taking part in the scheme will help it achieve more conservative balance sheet metrics.
