Banks ready to help local businesses during coronavirus crises

Government introduce measures for workers who are self-isolating

Local banks are set to do their bit to support individuals and businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.

Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly has been thanking banks on the Island, who have announced they'll provide assistance to businesses with loan repayment holidays and working capital assistance.

A range of Government measures were announced yesterday to support local workers.

They include the introduction of a National Insurance Holiday for employers in certain sectors, a grant of £3000 for businesses, also in certain sectors, and the introduction of a new sick pay compensation payments to mitigate the cost of paying employees who are self-isolating.
