Fond tribute to late quayside colleague

Steam Packet staff have paid tribute to a popular member of the quay side team, on the first anniversary of his death.

Friends and colleagues have dedicated a memorial bench to operative Luc Raes, who joined the company in 2002, serving as a quay side operative until his death last December aged 51.

Belgian-born Luc worked as a docker in Zeebrugge for 10 years before moving to the Isle of Man, where he worked as a barman scaffolder and before joining the Steam Packet Company.

The company says he was a popular figure among fellow workers and passengers.

The bench, with an inscribed plaque in Luc's memory now stands in the marshalling area at the Sea Terminal.
