Isle of Man regime cited as good example
Bermuda is looking to the Isle of Man for guidance on financial legislation.
The British Overseas Territory, a renowned offshore financial centre, is seeking to reform its anti-corruption laws, some of which are more than a century old.
Attorney General Trevor Moniz told members of the national House of Assembly this week that Bermuda should follow the example set by the Manx government in order to bolster its international reputation.
But he warned against simply creating a carbon-copy of UK laws.
Combatting corruption was a policy focus for the previous Tynwald administration - which led to the Island signing several international agreements on anti-money laundering and tax transparency.
