Business award for equality trailblazer

Lee Clarke

Accolades embrace workplace diversity

The value to companies of fostering diversity among the workforce is now firmly on the Manx corporate map.

The inaugural Responsible Business Awards (28 Sep) recognised corporate social responsibility in the widest sense.

Accolades championed positive role modes in gender, race and disability, a broad sweep of inspirational leaders, and saluted private and public sector inclusivity projects.

Lee Clarke was among three Diversity Champions of the Year, along with Luke Adebiyi and Monica Ewa Swiatec.

He founded the Manx Rainbow Association in 2010 to support the LGBT community, since when he's been at the forefront of demand for change.

Lee organised the first public Pride event in 2011, represented the LGBT community on the police diversity group, established employment rights in the merchant shipping industry, and successfully campaigned for the Equality Act which became law this year.

So are the ReB Awards recognition he's long hoped to see in the Manx business world?
