Shop hires Island's first apprentice butcher since 2013
A new business hopes hiring the first apprentice butcher through a government-backed scheme on the Island since 2013 will 'start a resurgence' in the trade.
Manx Local Butchers opened in the former Pulrose Post Office building in June, and has hired 17-year-old Robert Fair to learn the profession.
The shop stocks mostly Manx produce, including vegetables and eggs, along with local meat.
Owner Craig Carroll says there hasn't been a big demand for trainee butchers in recent, but hopes that's about to change:
