Discount retailer Dealz has confirmed it is to open a new store in Douglas this weekend.
Actress Katy Kavanagh who plays Julie Sharp in Coronation Street will open the shop, based in the old Woolworths in Strand Street, tomorrow morning (Saturday).
Forty-five new jobs are being created, including ten temporary Christmas positions.
Dealz' opening in Douglas brings a new retailer to the capital's main shopping street, almost three years after Woolies closed.
Dealz launched this autumn in the Republic of Ireland and is part of the Poundland group.
Poundland's chief executive Jim McCarthy says the Dealz brand has had a fantastic reception there, and he is confident price-conscious consumers in the Isle of Man will welcome the company's arrival here.
The store has 6,000 square feet of retail space, offering more than 3,000 product lines.
Katy Kavanagh will be signing autographs for local 'Corrie' fans at a fun day to mark the opening, from 10am tomorrow.
