Dandara builds bridge with youngsters

Representatives of Dandara visit Andreas primary school

Developer nails construction lesson

Northern primary school pupils have been getting some real-life lessons from an Island construction company.

Children from Andreas school have been learning about building, designing homes and structures in their lessons.

The project culminated in a visit by two staff from Dandara - health and safety advisor Grant Howard and contracts manager Len Arnold.

The pair spoke to a group of 26 pupils about their careers in the trade, fielding questions, showing-off equipment and speaking about the importance of staying safe.

It's part of Dandara's community programme, which sees the firm offer talks to young people about the dangers of building sites.

Mr Howard said the children seemed 'fascinated' by the talk, which he hoped would inspire some to consider a career in construction one day.
