Farewell from business community to Gary

Staff and clients to attend funeral of pensions firm founder

Clients and colleagues from the Island's business community will join family and friends of Gary Boal, at the entrepreneur's funeral on Friday 6 November.

The chairman and founder of pensions firm Boal & Co passed away suddenly in late October, at the age of 52. His funeral will be held at St George’s Church in Upper Church Street, Douglas at 12.30 and all are welcome to attend.

Mr Boal established his business in the Isle of Man in 1995, serving the offshore insurance market.  The firm expanded over two decades and now has offices in Dublin and a number of other offshore jurisdictions.

In September, the Group bought Jersey-based Zurich Trust Limited and earlier this month, Mr Boal accepted the accolade Best International Pension provider for the firm in the International Fund and Product Awards.

The company based at Isle of Man Business Park, supported newcomers to the industry, offering placements over recent years to actuarial science students at Queen's University in Belfast.

Mr Boal who was born in Northern Ireland, was a recognised technical expert in the field and contributed articles on retirement and insurance to the trade's international press.

Chief executive at Boal & Co Mark Kiernan said staff were deeply saddened at the death of their colleague, mentor and good friend.
