There could be trouble in store for 45 Swedish dentists who are alleged to have dodged more than £8 million in tax by funnelling cash through the Isle of Man.
The Swedish Tax Agency and the National Economic Crimes Bureau are investigating a suspected 113 million kronor tax dodge.
The funds are said to have been placed in the Isle of Man via Belgium and the Netherlands, after a Stockholm subsidiary of a Dutch company set up a scheme for dentists.
Investigators say they paid themselves low wages from their practices, and put cash into life insurance policies in the Island.
A Swedish newspaper claims some had secret bank accounts containing small fortunes.
If they are convicted, the dentists will have to pay back taxes and could face hefty fines and jail terms of six months.
