Donations help keep charities afloat

The RNLI and Sailing for the Disabled in the Island have each received donations from Douglas-based accountancy firm Moore Stephens.

The firm led a fund-raising drive at Douglas Bay Yacht Club last month, during an open day to encourage more people to take-up sailing and cruising.

Around 15 local businesses large and small offered raffle prizes at the event.

Both charities have been presented with cheques for £250 raised on the day.

Sailing for the Disabled said the money would help keep the charity afloat as it relies entirely on donations and corporate sponsorship.  The RNLI will put the donation towards training new volunteer lifeboat crew.
