Samaritans' boss leaves office to volunteer
The new boss of an Island charity has paid tribute to her employer for allowing her to spend part of the working day as a volunteer.
Gill Porter, the newly-appointed director of Samaritans Isle of Man, has thanked Capital International Group for its support.
The firm allows Gill, a senior manager in the Customer Services Team to leave the office on Samaritans' business, as part of its support for community initiatives.
Gill says the company's enabling her to contribute to society, while investing in the development of an employee.
Samaritans Isle of Man is run by volunteers from premises in Douglas, offering a listening service around the clock, every day of the year, for anyone struggling to cope.
