Firms in the swing for charity handbag appeal

Island firms Conister Bank and Sure IOM are backing a stylish fund raiser for Manx Cancer Help.

The charity's inviting women to donate their unwanted handbags as part of an annual appeal, which sees the bags recycled, sold and re-loved by new owners!

Appeal sponsor Conister will host the Handbag Extravaganza on its stand at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show in August.

Sure has offered handbag drop-off points in its three shops in the Island, in Douglas, Port Erin and Ramsey.

Previous appeals have seen a large number of bags donated ranging from evening purses to designer holdalls.

Kerry Waddington at Conister Bank said: ‘We love being part of this fabulous event, it is great to be involved in something that makes a real difference to the lives of people here on the Isle of Man. Each year I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the general public and hope this year’s event will be bigger and better!’

Manx Cancer Help offers psychological support for people with cancer and their loved ones, in free face-to-face sessions or over the phone.
