Failure to comply with EU rules could see companies fined

Island firms are being urged to get up to speed with new data protection laws coming into force next year.

The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will force business owners to take increased steps to stop information falling into the wrong hands.

Failure to comply with the regulations could see companies fined up to 4% of their annual revenue.

A summit this week in Douglas, hosted by local firm Simply Secure, brought together 75 local business leaders to discuss the incoming legislation.
