A commitment to international sport by Lloyds TSB is being developed on a local level.

The Isle of Man Gymnastics Association will benefit from sponsorship of £6,000 per year over the next three years.

Lloyds TSB was the first official partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, putting the bank at the heart of the most important events in worldwide sport and the biggest for the UK for several decades.

Tony Wild, Island Director of Lloyds TSB explained: ‘We are proud to be supporting the London Olympics and felt we should extend our involvement to our own community. The Isle of Man has a long and proud tradition of producing internationally renowned sportsmen and women and sport in general is an integral part of Island life.

‘The Isle of Man has already produced Olympic medal winners and we are keen to help support the sporting stars of the future.’

The money will be used to help with the costs of organising sport, as well as helping to fund the work to improve standards and increase expertise for the gymnasts and their coaches.

John Mudge of the Isle of Man Gymnastics Association said: ‘Our young gymnasts will really benefit from the support of Lloyds TSB. This sponsorship is a huge boost for us. It will help us to further develop the work we’re already undertaking to give our gymnasts, from new entrants to those competing at international level, the best training facilities and expertise possible.’
