
Island-based Citywing is hoping the start of this year's Blackpool illuminations will bring a late summer spike in demand on its route to the resort.
Comedian Peter Kay will switch on several miles of dazzling lights along Blackpool's sea front at a weekend-long celebration starting on Friday 29 August.
Girl group Little Mix will headline a concert that night, with a West End-themed theatrical event to follow on Saturday and more live entertainment planned on Sunday.
Flight ticket seller Citywing is using the event to market its year-round direct service to Blackpool, and its new Blackpool Hopper fares to the resort.
Managing Director David Buck says the firm's offer will make it "easier and more affordable for customers to discover the delights of this unique seaside town".
