Prices rise for second month in a row
The Island experienced a second consecutive month of inflation in October, after a considerable period of inflation, says Economic Affairs.
As measured by the Consumer Prices Index it stood at 0.9%, down from 1.2% the previous month.
Transport costs for both air and sea rose, as did petrol prices.
The largest category inflationary increases in the 12 months to October this year were as follows.
'Pay as You Go' prices went up at both Manx Telecom and Sure compared with the previous year, along with line rental.
The price of tea has been quite variable over the year - it, painkillers and potatoes are all prone to promotional offers, which have ended - driving prices up.
On several routes - air travel prices for six-week bookings have increased or remained at a continuously high level from previous months.
As for deflation - there have been tariff reductions on the unit price of gas.
DIY materials and bacon; both are now on offer, causing significant cost reductions.
Sugars, preserves, and pre-cooked meats across several retailers have been steadily falling in price over the year.
