Island hosts data protection summit

Villa venue for conference

Around 200 data protection professionals are gathering in the Island from the UK, Channel Islands and Gibraltar for a prestigious industry conference today (10 May).

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) conference is being held at the Villa Marina, in a day-long event taking place between 9am and 5pm.

It's been organised by Isle of Man Information Commissioner Iain McDonald, in association with the Manx government, at a cost of £175 per delegate.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle will welcome delegates expecting a packed programme covering issues like privacy, governance, data security and transparency.

Representatives from the European Commission will also be on hand to explain current directives and field questions.
