Island's deflationary trend deepens

Inflation further into negative territory

Latest official government figures show the Island's deflationary trend continued last month.

The annual inflation figure for November as measured by the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) fell deeper into negative territory, from -0.8 per cent to -1.2 per cent.

The Retail Prices Index (RPI) also dropped, from 2.9 per cent in October to 2.3 per cent.

Transport prices for Manx residents saw the biggest drop last month - down by 4.9 per cent - largely due to reductions in the price of air travel and petrol and oil.

Housing costs were also down, on the back of reductions in the price of home fuels and DIY materials.
