Isle of Architecture gears up for spring

Dr Kathryn Ferry

Events to engage public in built environment

A year long celebration of the Island's built heritage moves up a gear this spring.

The 'Isle of Architecture' initiative aims to encourage everyone to take a greater interest in the buildings around them.

Live events include poetry, music and talks from visiting speakers at venues all around the Island.

Year 9 students from QE2 will perform poetry at the House of Mannanan on Wednesday 15th February, and the next 'gig in a special place' will see Manx choir Caarjyn Cooidjagh perform at the Western Swimming Pool on Saturday 18th.

The first special talk in on Thursday 2nd March when celebrated historian anbd author Dr Kathryn Ferry will talk about seaside architecture, using examples from the Island to explore trends that defined Victorian and inter-war eras.
