JA appeals for business mentors

Business figures sought to support company programme

Inspiring entrepreneurship in young people - Junior Achievement Isle of Man is looking to recruit volunteer business mentors to support its flagship programme.

In the last academic year, they helped support 29 teams of students taking part in the company programme to form a business and bring a product to market.

Research shows 15 per cent of those year 12 students go on to become self-employed, compared to the six per cent national average.

A company awards presentation saw four mentors celebrated for their long-service - including Zurich Global Life's Terry Bradley, and Paul Wiseman from Barclays.

This year, JA IoM has helped 5,500 young people develop workplace skills.
